6/14/11Kryptonite, the company that pioneered U-lock, have developed a unique way to prevent bike theft using a combination of social media, a national registry and stickers. The stickers have barcodes that can be attached to bikes and then activated thorough a national registry.

If a bike is stolen and reported, anybody who sees a bike she/he suspects is stolen, can use her/his smart phone to scan the bike's sticker to verify if it is listed as stolen in the Bike Revolution's database. Bike Revolution publishes this information on its web site and uses social networking tools to spread the word.

Localized Stolen Bike Alerts are sent to Bike Revolution's followers on

Facebook and Twitter, the bike owner, local authorities, bike shops and cycling clubs.
